Step completely off the modern grid and journey into the prehistoric heart of the Mentawai archipelago. Located 130 km off the coast of West Sumatra, the remote jungles of Siberut Island are home to the indigenous Mentawai people—one of Indonesia’s oldest tribes. Living in absolute symbiosis with the rainforest, they have fiercely preserved their ancient animist beliefs, sacred tattoo artistry, and shamanic traditions for thousands of years.
This exclusive 5-Day 4-Night Anthropological Expedition offers a rare, respectful window into their world. This is not a standard sightseeing tour; you will travel deep into the primary jungle by motorized canoe, stay as an honored guest inside a traditional communal stilt house (Uma), and live alongside a Mentawai family. Under the guidance of local tribal members, you will participate in their daily survival rituals—from harvesting sago and crafting traditional loincloths to preparing botanical medicine and learning the art of the bow and poisoned arrow. This is a profound, raw, and transformative eco-adventure designed for travelers seeking a true connection with humanity’s roots.
